ITALIAN CHILDREN' SONGS

In Italy, thanks to an accordance between Rai Tv and Antoniano Choir, from '50's, in the italian national Tv, every year in november, a sort of 'Sanremo', but only for children is 'on air'.
That has been the first resorce by songs for children in Italy but, of course, in the time also many authors, singers and groups made songs for children, and tv cartoons from '80's, still now, made the rest.
I love song for childrens.
I start to play music, when I sing in a choir of my parish, when I was only 7- 8 years old, and, I must thanks to them if I love the music as now.
The tradition of 'Choirs for childrens' in italy, is very very old; we can speak about 'sacred music', of middleages, but i don't know when that thing exatly started and why.
We can only enjoin with that funny songs, very easy to sing and very helpful to learn italian language, for example....

CRISTINA D'AVENA; songs for children

CRISTINA D'AVENA, borns in Bologna, on 1964 and only 3 years old debuts as singer in famouse italian musical Tv-show for children 'Lo Zecchino d'Oro ', a little Sanremo' Music Festival for childrens; she arrived to 3rd place, and, after, she continues to be a singer for many years 'Antoniano's Chor', one of most important italian choir for childrens, founded by the religion association inspired by Saint Antonio, and a very important solidariety association in Bologna ( www.antoniano.it ).
Cristina D'Avena, now, is a singer, actress and Italian TV presenter, famous for hes interpretation of the initials of the cartoons aired on the networks of the Mediaset Group.
When she has 17 years old, on 1981, the new private italian television, Canale 5, (the first Berlusconi's television) serching a singer for japanese cartoons, 'Pinocchio'...
After being subjected to an audition recording, Cristina, still a minor, signs an exclusive contract (which is still connected) with the label of Channel 5, Five Record (now RTI Music, incorporated in the spa ).
It'a quickly success and, one after one, all cartoons serie pubblichs by Canale 5, Italia 1 and rete 4, the 3 brtluvoni's tv from 191 to last years has sigle sung by Cristina d'Avena.
From 1981 Cristina has had a very big success between childrens and teenagers, and she starts to make Tv presenter of tv show for childrens.
Cristina D'Avena's voice is very beautiful, but is also very, very particular.
Sometimes her voice seems to be a boy, sometimes to be a girl and that thing iswe can said Cristina is a real Star in the italian music market for children, a star from 30 years and she is still loved as 30 years ago.

GIGLIOLA CINQUETTI borns in North Italian on '47 and, only 16een when debuts in Sanremo with 'Non ho l'età - Per amarti' - (I'm too young - For love You), becomes the youngest Italian Music Festival winner ever and, with the same song, only two months later, She wins the European Festival of music; 1964 was a great year for her career!!.
When Gigliola Cinquetti debuts on Sanremo, has quickly a big success: as You can see in the first videos, she is a very easy and 'clear' girl, that "All italian moms would have liked to have as daughter", saids media.
In the years after, she has good success, she also translates some songs in French and English languages
That image of 'good girl' remains to Gigliola, as she stopped to sing, in the late '80's, when, with a good success, starts the career of Tv presenter.

FRANCO CALIFANO - er Califfo

FRANCO CALIFANO borns, by chance in the skies of Tunisi, in an aereoplane.
FRANCO CALIFANO, called "er Califfo", or "master", by friends, is also a musician 'by chance'...
My father hated him; he said. 'he doesn't know the music but he has success'... That is truth, but 'er Califfo' is an author, a poet, a writer of song, before of others things.
In fact the most famous Califano' songs, are sung by others peoples, as Mia Martini (Minuetto) , Ornella Vanoni, Mina, ( only thses three are the best italian pop singer ever )and in the last time for Tiromancino.

For me, Califano is only a real poet, and a nonconformist man..

RENZO ARBORE and Orchestra Italian

Finally, I can write about RENZO ARBORE.
Renzo Arbore has been the first Italian Dee Jay, together Boncompagni (on radio Rai, 1965) , a showman and a talent-scout, and, of course, a musician; he plays clarinet.
He starts to play in jazz orchestra in his town Foggia, before has been graduated as advocate in Naple, and it's Naple the town and it's neapolitan the music that he loves.
After many years of success as Radio's Dee Jay and Tv showman of musical shows, he continues his career alone, as film maker and producer, and in '80's he retourn to make tv-musical and ironic shows, where he has an incredible success; I remember well my father at midnight to see 'Renzo Arbore' in Rai Tv; there is in these transmissions he discovered artists as Isabella Rossellini and Roberto Benigni, now famouses also in Usa

On 1991, as clarinet player, he founded 'Orchestra italian', where he is the front man.
"Orchestra italian" makes concerts where italian and neapolitan music is loved: in all the world!!
The first success, of course has been in Italy and few years after in America,but also Canada, Germany, Europe, East Europe and South America.
Now, Renzo Arbore and his "Orchestra italian" is one of best Italian Traditional music groups, and I'm very happy to be able to show You many songs of Them.They plays only old Italian and neapolitan success, famouse in all the world .

UMBERTO BINDI

UMBERTO BINDI borns on 1932 near Genoa, he begins to study, very young, the piano, graduated at the Conservatory, deals with opera, operetta and little threatre shows, called 'rivista'.
His first song, "T'ho perduto" - (Did I lost), and 1950.
Hired by Ariston (the Sanremo's acting company, the same threatre were Italian Music festival plays ), debuts in Sanremo music festival as author.
Together Paolo Conte, Fabrizio de André, Gino Paoli and Bruno Lauzi he is one of 'genonian's song-writers", a group of musicians comes from Genoa very important for the 'revolution of italian popular music'.
Umberto Bindi ,in particular, is the most prepared musically of them, and his propensity for a stylish melody and lavish arrangements resemble him the singers from classic music.
His best compositions have texts of a fellow countryman, lyricist Giorgio Calabria.
The italian world 'cantautore' (song-writer) was 'letteral' invented for Umberto Bindi!!
That thing is only to explain the importance of Bindi for the italian music world , but... but he was a problem.
Umberto Bindi was a gay, and, in the Italian society of '60's and '70's who was omosexual cannot be a VIP; he couldn't show himself in Tv, that's the big problem for Bindi's career: when, in '70's his sexuality becomes pubblic his career stopped; problem that leads him to die in poverty in 2002.

In the last times, thanks to Morgan, one of three judges of Italian X Factor, the musical Tv-show, Umberto Bindi is re-descovered by many teenagers, and that is a really good thing.

CAMALEONTI was an Italian Music Group, famouse between '60's and 70's, but the last album is pubblished on 2004. Borns around 'Celentano's Clan', a sort of group of friend of Adriano Celentano, the first italian musicians played rock. One of Camaleonti's first success was the fantastic '"Applausi" (n.3 of playlist). ROSSANA CASALE was, on last '80's - early '90's one of most promettent jazz female voice o italian jazz music. Rossana Casale borns in New York from an american father and a venezian mother. CECILIA BARTOLI

CECILIA BARTOLI is an actress and one of most extraodinary, awesome, incredible Italian female "mezzosoprano" voice.
Cecilia Bartoli borns in Rome in 1966 from a musician family ( her mother, father , and also her grandmother were classic singers ).
Cecilia loves to play romantic music, as Mozart and Rossini, in that autumn She made a very interesting disco called 'Sacrificium", dedicated to Italians Castrati ( Castrato) .
In XVIIIst century 400 boys, every year, were castrated to becomes 'special singers'.
That album, for me, will be very important for Cecilia Bartoli and for all classic and baroque music.
The 'castrato' singers tradition in Italy were very respected and only after a cultural revolution of 'belle epoque' Castrated stop to exist, the women started to sing in the theatres, but also after that, the 'castrato tradition' remains in south Italy for all 1800.

THE ITALIAN NATIONAL ANTHEM AND IT HISTORY

The "Fratelli d'Italia" (Italian's Brothers), called also "Inno di Mameli" is the Italian National Anthem officially, only from 1946, after the IInd WW and the fall of the fascism..
Mameli wrote that Imn on 1847, during the first battles for the Italian Unification (Risorgimento Italiano), where was very successful, and when many Italians fought for the unification of our country, but that song - for my opinion, and for the opinion of many others italian's citizens - that song was good 150 years ago, not now.
Many people proposed, in 1946, to adopt as the national anthem 'Coro del Nabucco', by Giuseppe Verdi, but the story of Nabucco isn't italian, it's from Israel; also if in '70's some peoples made a petition to adop it..

Now 'Giovinezza', was the imn of Italian Fascist party, but it was considerated also a sort of "The 2nd Italian National Anthem" ( 80-90% of italians were subscribed to Fascist Party).
Mussolini become to the power on 1922 to 1946, and 'Giovinezza' become The official National Anthem of Italian Social Repubblic (R.S.I.) , after September 8, 1944 , when the King of Italy went away from Italy and his goverment surrended to Allies, in North Italy, where fascist and nazists has theirs command, and the Civil War started; Italy was divided in two parts: north fascists and South allies, but the civil war, of course ws only on RSI, in North Italy...
A part the bad history and bad civil war, the music and lyrics of 'Giovinezza''s song - for me - is better tha other two anthem, of course we could delete the phrases about Mussolini, but if you leaves thjese words, you can understand, also in english language that as an Italian National Anthem is better than others...

SAVAGE, real name Roberto Zanetti, borns in Massa - Tuscany - on '56 and stars to play piano very young; as other musicians, he will plays together many groups of his region.
After to play keyboards in many italian groups, as Zucchero 'Sugar' Fornaciari, his big friend, in 1983 Roberto Zanetti decide to produce himself, with name 'Roby', the song 'Don't Cry Tonight', He'll sings it as Savage; that is the first of many success, In '80's italian disc-music appreciate in Countries of East- Europe, in these contries - as Russia - they call it "italo disco"; in the video-playlist below, we can see Russia's pubblic to remember singers as Savage better than in Italy; in east Europe Country, still now, '80's italo disco singers, are legends.

GAZEBO , real name PAUL MAZZOLINI borns in Beirut on '60, he retourns quickly in Italy , his real Country; his father was an Italian diplomatic, and the mother was a not famous American singer: Gazebo couldn't to become than a musician; more specific a music author and a singer of his songs.

In '80's disc-music or 'disco dance music', was played in all Italy, all boys want to becomes Dee-jay and in every room - as today there is a desktop Pc - in '80's was a 'mixer', also if the most part of our house was only a good stereo and we were happy however .
Gazebo, after to has been pubblished by an italian talent-scout and producer, with the song 'Master piece" ( n. 3 of video-playlist below) has had a big success.
The success of italian disc-dance music went also in Russia, in Europe, in South America...
The italian disc-music market has its laws: Singers and authors could to use only their new english names; they must to said to becomes from UK (or Usa), but the big part of pubblic, for example, knows the real name of Raf only after many years from his first success...
Of course that had it reasons. if a simple new italian singer start to make disc-music the pubblic didn't buy his discs, also if the song was good: disc-music come from Usa and only Usa's singers and authors could to make good disco dance music !!1
Course that law is still live; in the most part of markets and for everything to sell.
If I talk bout 'Gazebo' someone can remember, but if I talk about "Paul mazzolini" none remember of him..
That's the reasons why many Italian singer of disc music, after the first success didn't not more...
Even big artists as Raf and Spagna didn't betrayed these laws: still now they use their 'artistic names'.

MARCO MASINI borns in Florence in 1964 and now is an Italian song-writer.
Success becames after his first sanremo, with the song "Perchè lo fai" (Why You do it?), a story of an heroin-girl.
